Chilton Primary School

Learn with passion to live with purpose

Mental Health and Wellbeing

At Chilton Primary School we recognise the importance of supporting children with their mental health and well-being. We work closely with children and their families by using interventions, seeking help from outside of school and training our staff so that they can support children. We are fortunate to have Mrs Young who is trained as an Emotional, Literacy, Support, Assistant (ELSA). Mrs Young works with different children across the school and provide support, guidance and resources to the staff. We also run interventions such as Drawing and Talking, friendship groups and support children who struggle to come into school in the morning with a 'soft start' Lego group.

Below is a list of recommended websites that may be useful to support your children. If you would like any further information or support, please talk to your child’s class teacher initially or contact Mrs Knight.

We use Zones of Regulation to support children with regulating and understanding their emotions. Here is our leaflet that has been made for parents, explaining the Zones and how we help children to use them. This is being used across the school school from nursery to Year 6. You will also see displays in your child's classroom plus a whole school display in the hall where children can find ideas on how to help them in each zone.
