Term 2 – is the journey worth the risk?

We are all very excited about our new topic this term. We are heading into the world of mountains to explore our enquiry question: ‘Is The Journey Worth The Risk?’
During the topic, we will be learning where mountains can be found, how they are formed and what their features are. We will explore this exciting topic through our Geography, English and Science lessons. In English, we will be writing calligram poems where the children will write about the feelings and atmosphere that might be felt on a mountain. We will be using the book 'Everest' for our writing stimulus for the last two writing units. The children will write a diary entry as Sir Edmund Hilary about his experience and then a newspaper report about his successful climb to the summit of Everest.
Our class novel for this term is The Abominables.
In Art, we are doing still-life observation drawings of fruit.
In Science, we will be learning about the different types of rocks and soils.
