Climate action plan

The Department for Education (DfE) require all education settings to have a sustainability lead and Climate Action Plan.

Our Climate Action Plan is more than a statutory requirement – it reflects our commitment to creating a sustainable future for our children, our community and our planet.

At Chilton Primary School, environmental responsibility is already part of everyday school life. We are proud of the practical steps we have taken to reduce our environmental impact, including the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, the use of energy-efficient LED lighting and ongoing improvements to how we manage energy and resources across the school site.

Our dedicated Eco Team plays an important role in driving change, helping pupils to develop an understanding of sustainability and empowering them to make a positive difference both in school and beyond. Through our curriculum, outdoor learning opportunities and environmental projects, we encourage children to become thoughtful, responsible citizens who understand their role in caring for the world around them.

Our Climate Action Plan brings together the work we are already doing and sets out our ambitions for the future. It will continue to evolve as we identify new opportunities to reduce our carbon footprint, enhance biodiversity, improve sustainability across the school and inspire our pupils to become the environmental leaders of tomorrow.
