School trips

Children at Chilton Primary School enjoy a variety of day and residential trips throughout the school year.

Day trips

Although day trip locations change each year, previous trips have included:

-Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers museums, Oxford
-Didcot Railway Centre
-Earth Trust
-Hill End
-Houses of Parliament
-Oxford Castle

In December, the whole school (except pre-school) goes to a local theatre to watch a show or pantomime.

In addition, the children enjoy walks around the village, trips to the local church, Harwell Campus and the garden centre. We also have many visitors, for example, authors, emergency services and mystery readers, plus workshops such as African drumming.

Residential trips

In year 2 the children spend a night at Hill End in Oxfordshire, where they take part in forest school and environmental activities.

Our year 3–4 children go on a 3-day residential to Hooke Court where history comes to life!

In Year 6, the children go on a week-long multi-activity residential trip. During the week, they are challenged to be independent and to take risks. Activities include abseiling, raft building, fencing and the giant swing.
