Learning to live and living to learn

Spring 2 - Once Upon a Time...

Term 4

Once Upon a Time. . .

This term, Reception will be learning about traditional tales. They will learn how to tell the tales off by heart using a range of storytelling techniques. Please see below for an overview of the traditional tales and areas in maths which we will be covering:

Week 1: The Gingerbread Man / Weight and Capacity

Week 2: Jack and the Beanstalk / Length and Measure

Week 3: Goldilocks and the Three Bears / Weight and Capacity

Week 4: Little Red Riding Hood / Doubling

Week 5: The Three Little Pigs / Doubling, Halving and Sharing

Week 6: Non-Fiction Animals and Easter / Recap and Consolidation

If your child has any different versions of these tales at home we would love to share them in class. Please name any books that are coming in to school.

Daily reading of their schemed reading book sent home from school. Please remember to comment in their yellow reading diary when they have read the book to you. Remind the children that they should put their reading book in the coloured basket every morning.

WOW Moments: Well done to all the parents who have supported their child in finding opportunities at home for them to succeed. Please continue to offer your children the ‘wow moments’ as they love to share them with the class and see them up on the wall.
