Learning to live and living to learn

Pine Class

Welcome to Pine Class! We are a class of 28 kind and enthusiastic learners. Our teacher is Miss De Vries and we are supported by Mrs Coakley, Mrs Suttner, Mrs Webster, Mrs Vincent and Mrs Gilbert.

Our topic this term is all about ‘Macbeth’. We are looking forward to learning about the play and getting stuck into rehearsals ready for our ‘One Night of Shakespeare’ performance run by the Shakespeare Schools Foundation. We are also excited for professional directors to visit and work with us to improve our performance. We will be exploring drama, art and music through our topic to help us get ready for our performance.

In writing, we will be learning about the life of Shakespeare and his place in history. We will present this information as a biography of Shakespeare’s life. Later in the term, we will be writing our own playscript based on the play. We will look at spelling, grammar and punctuation appropriate to the style of writing throughout these sessions.

In maths, we will start by looking at place value up to 1,000,000 and move on to addition and subtraction with numbers up to five digits. Our Science topic this term is all about light. We will be looking at how light travels and how it is seen by the eye. In RE we will be exploring the religion of Sikhism. Additionally, in PSHE we will be exploring the theme of  ‘Me and My World’ and setting ourselves targets for our year ahead.

Our PE days are Thursday and Friday. Please ensure that all kit is in.
