Important Information:

Staggered start times: As explained in the email sent out last week, for the first two full weeks we would kindly ask you to bring your children to the Reception garden gate between 8.45 and 9.10. This will hopefully make it smoother for them in the mornings. We will review this and inform you when we aim to change it back in line with the rest of the school (8.30-8.45) at the main gates.

What does my child need to bring to school each day?

Each day your child will need to bring a named water bottle. If they are bringing their own packed lunch, this can be brought in a lunchbox and be left in their classroom. Please name lunch boxes clearly. Please leave a pair of named welly boots in the cloakroom. Please also leave a change of spare school uniform clothes on their peg in case of accidents. They do not need to bring their book bag yet.

PE - Each class has one main PE session, with our PE teacher Mr Bedwell, per week on a Tuesday. We will also have music and movement sessions during the week where they may need to change into PE kit. PE kits will stay in school and will be sent home at the end of every half term to be washed.

“WOW moment” slips: Each child will start to bring home some “wow moment” slips. Please use them by telling us something that they have achieved at home that has made you say “wow”. We will then share it with the class and keep it at school to be displayed. Your child will bring home a few slips to be used throughout the term. There will be extra blank “wow moment” slips in a plastic wallet in the cloakroom for you to take home if you need more.

Reading at Home: Later in the Autumn term, we will begin to send home reading books with your child. More information about this will be shared later in the term once we have assessed where each child is in their individual reading journey. Please read to or with your child every day.

Forest School / Outdoor Learning: This year the children will attend Forest School and Outdoor Learning sessions. Once the children have settled into school, we will place them into a group (Ants, Beetles or Crickets) which will be a mixture of children from both Maple and Oak class. We will let you know which group your child is in by the end of the week.
