Important Information:

Staggered start and finish times: In line with school guidelines, Reception are operating staggered start and finish times for the school day. Please remember that we are trying to reduce numbers of people in the classrooms so we kindly ask that you aim to say goodbye to your child in the morning at the external cloakroom door from as soon as they are ready to do so. We will be gradually moving towards everyone saying goodbye at the external cloakroom door and eventually everyone saying goodbye at the main school gate. We will keep you updated to these changes as they happen.

Oak Class start time: 08:45am – 09:00am        Oak Class finish time: 3:15pm

What does my child need to bring to school each day? Each day your child will need to bring a named water bottle. If they are bringing their own packed lunch, this can be brought in a lunchbox and be left in their classroom. Please leave a pair of named welly boots in the cloakroom. Please also leave a change of spare school uniform clothes on their peg in case of accidents. They do not need to bring their book bag or rucksack yet.

PE - We are aiming for all our PE sessions to be held outside this term. Each class has two PE sessions per week.

If your child has PE at 9am* – please send them to school dressed in their outdoor PE kit (red top, dark jogging bottoms and jumper, trainers) with their school uniform in a bag to be changed into afterwards. Please ensure they have their kit in school for their other PE session too.

Oak Class has PE Tuesday at 9am* and Wednesday at 10am.

“WOW moment” slips: Each child will bring home some “wow moment” slips. Please use them by telling us something that they have achieved at home that has made you say “wow”. We will then share it with the class and keep it at school to be displayed. Your child will bring home a few slips to be used throughout the term. There will be extra blank “wow moment” slips in a plastic wallet in the cloakroom for you to take home if you need more.

Reading at Home: This Autumn term, we will begin to send home reading books with your child. Your child also has access to Bug Club – an online reading tool. More information about this will be shared later in the term once we have assessed where each child is in their individual reading journey. Please read to or with your child every day.

Forest School / Outdoor Learning: This year the children will attend Forest School and Outdoor Learning sessions. Once the children have settled into school, we will place them into a group (Ants, Beetles or Crickets) which will be a mixture of children from both Maple and Oak class. We will let you know which group your child is in closer to the time. Please see the table below for the dates of each session:
