Click here to read our latest Ofsted Report (February 2019). Our rigorous inspection lasted two full days, and was led by a member of Her Majesty’s Inspectorate, supported by two Ofsted Inspectors. During their visit inspectors looked at many lessons, examined children’s work, scrutinised their books, interviewed governors and members of staff, and met with children.
Inspectors report that there are excellent relationships and excellent attitudes to learning in our ‘harmonious and happy school’. Our teachers have high expectations and pupils do their best to meet these in lessons. In addition the children read well, write well and solve complex problems in mathematics; they also benefit greatly from our outdoor learning environment and make strong progress in the arts, underpinning their ‘strong cultural understanding’. We are delighted that this positive report encapsulates all the wonderful things about Chilton; it describes a school that stands out from the crowd with its ‘outstanding’ behaviour, ‘unique’, ‘broad and ambitious curriculum’ and pupils who ‘fizz with enthusiasm’.
The Inspection team has recommended two actions which will further improve our school. We have already begun to address these issues: improving outcomes by strengthening progress in mathematics, ensuring that planned work consistently builds upon pupils’ prior knowledge and understanding.
