Our wonderful Headteacher, who has led our school community for the past eight years is retiring. We are searching for someone to lead our forward-thinking and supportive school family, and to build upon the school’s successes.

Chilton Primary School is a modern purpose-built, well-resourced school in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty at the foot of the Berkshire Downs, adjacent to the Harwell Campus (a world-class science, innovation, technology and business campus). We are an expanding school (growing to 1.5 form entry) that is at the heart of a growing and diverse community. We are a Lead Teaching School within the Oxfordshire Teaching Schools Alliance. We feel that our approach and commitment to encouraging every child to achieve their full potential in both learning and social development, reflects our school motto “Living to Learn and Learning to Live”. This appointment is an exciting opportunity for the right Headteacher to work with the governing board to lead our amazing school.

We are looking for a Headteacher who:

  • Demonstrates a growth mindset, the drive, energy and passion to lead and inspire our school in a warm and caring manner
  • Can lead our school through its expansion, and maintain the core values and vision of the school
  • Has strong collaborative leadership, management and interpersonal skills, and who drives a culture of team spirit
  • Is excited to have the opportunity to build upon the foundations that the school has created in collaborating and supporting schools across Oxfordshire
  • Is committed to inclusion in all its aspects
  • Has excellent communication skills, with an ability to develop effective community engagement
  • Ensures the whole child is at the heart of everything we do
  • Understands the importance of Social and Emotional Learning
  • Can effectively oversee the day-to-day strategic management of finance, personnel, the curriculum and resources.

We can provide you with the opportunity to:

  • Lead a passionate, fun and talented group of staff
  • Develop enthusiastic children who are keen to learn and share their experiences
  • Lead a school where each child matters and everyone counts
  • Be supported, with a high level of commitment from governors, parents, guardians and staff
  • Work in a culture that values a thematic and cross-curricular approach, inclusion, and a STEAM, Forest School and Outdoor Learning focus
  • Do what you do best, lead the school with no regular teaching commitment.

Our children would like a Headteacher who:

  • Is a good speaker, who tells good stories and interacts with them
  • Is happy, kind and follows our 3Bs (Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe)
  • Will carry on with the themed terms we have experienced under the creative curriculum.

An informal visit is warmly welcomed. Please contact the school to arrange.
