This term our topic is ‘Tomb Raider’ and will be based around Ancient Egypt. We are really looking forward to this exciting topic and can’t wait to get stuck into hieroglyphs and pyramids! The children will be learning all about mummification, death masks, Howard Carter and gods and goddesses. We will be working closely with Year 4 again this term as it is a joint topic.
Your child will have the opportunity to explore this topic through Art, Design Technology, Literacy and Drama. In addition to the topic work and daily Mathematics lessons, there will be Personal, Social and Health sessions, PE, RE, Spelling, French, Computing and Science.

This term our topic is based around the theme of fairy tales and is called ‘In a land far away…’, this is to tie in with our Year 3 & 4 play of Cinderella. English lessons will be integrated into the theme as we will be retelling stories, looking at features of traditional tales, characters and script writing. We will be focusing on language skills through drama.
Also this term we will be looking at ‘Rocks and Soil’ in science with Mrs Deacon.
Alongside all of this the children will continue to have daily mathematics lessons and Whole Class Guided Reading sessions, Spellings, music (violins), French, RE, PSHCE and PE.
We are very excited about our whole school topic this term. We are going to be learning about the Polar Regions of the world! We will be finding out about the geography of the area, people and animals that live in the Arctic and Antarctic and famous Explorers who have trekked there! They will also have the opportunity to study extracts from Narnia and as a class we will be reading The Ice Palace by Robert Swindells. It is going to be a very fun term learning lots of new facts and taking part in some amazing art activities. We will also be meeting and following some Polar explorers. We will finish this topic with a science week based on a Frozen theme!

Our new topic is based around the Tudors and is called ‘Battles & Banquets!’ We have planned and thought about all of the exciting things that we would like to find out about the history of the Tudor Kings and Queens and everyday life. Our literacy lessons will be based around this theme and we will be looking at writing non-fiction reports, features of non-fiction texts, writing instructions and information texts.
In Science this term we will be looking at the light & dark. Alongside all of this the children will continue to have daily Mathematics lessons and Whole Class Guided Reading sessions, Phonics, Music (violins), French, RE, PSHCE and PE.

This term’s topic is all about deadly and dangerous creatures. The children wanted to find out about different species that lurk in trees and those at the deepest parts of the oceans. We will be writing some interesting non-chronological reports with the research which we will be collecting, thinking about survival in the wilderness and also making an interesting design and technology project.
In Science this term we will be looking at the life cycles of plants, the different parts of flowering plants and seed dispersal. Alongside all of this the children will continue to have daily Mathematics lessons and Guided Reading sessions, Phonics, Music (violins), French, RE, PSHCE and PE.
